Masters
It's over for 2008. Thanks to players, trainers, coaches, partners and families for their support. We had a great time pretending we could still play footy - and were very competitive most of the time.
Frosty's Forecasts :
Sunshine, 20 degrees , light drizzle last quarter,
will brad resurrect the mo-hawk for the finals?

Texas Holdem Poker Night
A great night with 35 players vying for the big prize.
Congratulations to Mouse who took the prize pool.
Thanks to those who organised the 'entertainment' and good luck to anyone who wants to pour a beer in the future. (I have no idea what this means but use your imagination)
Valentine's Day - ABC TV

Did anyone see this show on ABC TV ? If so how about emailing me a report (click here) with details of the starring roles of Locky, Pants & Co. ???
So you thought
you were old......
You might remember Gordon McQueen - he filled in for our Masters last year
against Peninsula Raiders. Well he's now famous after a recent Herald-Sun
article. And at 67 he's probably 15 years older than our oldest player.
Check out Gordon here. BTW - who is
OUR oldest player ?
Dont Forget our Sponsorship Deals
Special Knox Lions Discount !
Tommo (from Tomlinson
Glass) has offered a 5% discount on all orders if you mention you the Knox

New Al's Player of the Round Award
A new deal with Al's Place Pizza means our best player in the Supers and
Masters games will receive the Al's Player of the Round Award. This
entitles you to a free large pizza and a can of coke. Winners will receive
a card they need to present at Al's to receive their free pizza.
More details on our
sponsors page. (Players
- please remind coaches Eddie and Bourkey if they do not award the prize
after each game. )
And thanks to Frank Seton for a new team whiteboard. Should help us get our match-ups and rotations organised. Good one Franky.
Insurance
The Superules league know the chances of one of you old blokes hurting yourself is pretty high (I'm sure your wife/girlfriend has reminded you of that already) and therefore require all player to fill in a Membership Consent form. Motty has these forms and we need every player to fill one in. Bottom line is that you play at your own risk recognising your old bodies aren't what they used to be. Please see Motty to get a form if you haven't already.
Volunteers - We Need You !
Thanks to everybody who
assisted last weekend at home , the games were well supported on the
volunteer side by everybody at the club ,
Remember If you want to stick your hand up to help out or have any friends who want to be involved let the contacts listed below know. Anyone who can help in any way makes a big difference to the running of the club.

The game of Masters Australian Football
(formerly known as Superules) provides the opportunity for players 35
years and over to enjoy the game of Aussie Rules Football in a safe,
supportive and fun environment.
After first commencing in 1980 the sport is governed by Superules
Australia Inc and its nine member state Associations and is now played by
over 100 teams throughout Australia.
MAF has a national standardised set of modified rules designed to reduce
the risks of injury and has the benefit of being acknowledged and
supported by the AFL and the Australian Sports Commission.
Rule modifications include:
Age division restrictions
No slinging when tackling players
No knee or boot up when going in for marks
Only two up for any rucks
No barging through packs and the order off rule for any rough play
With the development of new age categories such as masterules (40 years
and over) in addition to superules (35 years and over), now being played
in many domestic competitions, the game is custom made for fun
involvement.
You will find a welcoming atmosphere at MAF clubs with an emphasis on
family involvement and fun social interaction. While a good level of
fitness is required to enjoy the game fully, training runs once or twice a
week without huge time commitments are the order of the day for superules.
Matches are played once a fortnight.
An annual MAF Carnival in October features State and Territory teams
competing across four age divisions:-
Superules (35 years and over)
Masterules (40 years and over)
Seniorules (45 years and over)
Superseniors (50 years and over)
The Carnival is fun for everybody and has become one of the biggest Aussie
Rules football events of the year. The big event of the year for MAF is
the National Carnival which is played annually, rotating to various State
venues.
There are also VicMetro Vs VicCountry
once a month in the winter months for players over 45 at various venues
around the state.
